Dempo Sports Club record a stunning 2-1 win over Delhi Dynamos in the All India Football Federation (AIFF) U-15 Hero Junior Leaue Play off Group C match played at Royal Park stadium Barrackpore, Kolkata, on Tuesday.

Dempo SC started nervously and conceded a penalty early in the 4th minute when defender Rajan Kumar brought down a Dynamos defender in the box. Delhi Dynamos Fahad Temuri stepped over and converted from the spot.

Dempo SC came close to scoring in the 12th minute when Velanco Rodrigues dribbled past couple of rival defenders and took a shot at goal which hit the side netting.

Delhi were kept in control as the Young Eagles kept more of ball possession playing in the midfield.

In the second quarter, Dempo SC created couple of goal scoring moves. First, Velanco Rodrigues ran from right flank and dribbled past the opponent defenders and before playing a cut-back pass to Sherwin Abranches, whose effort narrowly missed the mark.

Soon Vieri Colaco missed another chance when he failed to give finishing touch to Shameek Vas’ cross from the left flank.

After constant probing, Dempo SC equalised in the 40th minute when Necio Fernandes, on receiving a through ball from Sherwin Abranches, dribbled past couple of rival defenders before placing the ball past the rival custodian. The teams walked into the breather with 1-1 scoreline.

In the second session, Dempo Sports Club kept the game in control by rolling the ball across the field maintaining ball possession. However, soon Delhi showed their attacking intent forcing Dempo SC to play in the defensive third and thankfully the defence and goalkeeper did well to the keep the scores level.

In the 50th minute, Dempo SC tried their luck from distance when Vieri Colaco attempted a shot from just outside the box which narrowly missed the mark.

The Goan side finally took the lead in the 80th minute when Jimmy Colaco sent a perfect pass to Sherwin Abranches on the flank who then fed a perfect delivery to Necio Fernandes and the last man didn’t disappoint his team as he slotted home to give his side crucial three points.
