The Academy is nestled in the lush green belt of Old Goa in the picturesque Ella area which is about 8 Kms. from Panjim, this location has been hand - picked as it is in fairly close proximity to the city but far enough from the maddening crowds to allow for holistic and focused football development.
The Academy is structured and tailor made for the development of modern football players, the training facilities include full FIFA size grassed pitch, an Astro pitch, a shooting wall and a sand pit to develop lower body strength.
Together with the above structures there is a pavilion with storage spaces and offices which is part of the phase one of the project which will be functional as from the 25 November 2017. The phase two part of the project is likely to start early in 2018 which will include the accommodation for 96 players with all amenities, conference facility, fully fitted gym, a physiotherapy department, class rooms, library, admin block and recreational areas.
The Façade of the Academy reflects the architecture of Goa and though it is an academy of international standing, the building reflects Goan values and works well in the Goan context especially to handle the extreme Goan weather.
Water is a universal element which represents peace and calm. We bring this to the design as a unifying element which runs from the recreation block through the entrance lobby into the administrative area. It borders the amphitheater and acts as a back drop for the stage. It needs to be articulated with the help of the landscape architect.
The Verandah is an element which has been used in Goa over the years to protect the building from the harsh rainfall and sun. In this design, we have interpreted the verandah in both modern and traditional ways. It acts as a transition zone for teaching, relaxation as well as recreation.
Injury management and attention is an integral part of a sports academy and an ambulance bay has been provided with independent access and separate entry to the sick bay.
The Courtyard which falls between the academy building and the boys hostel will be developed to have an open air Amphitheater and Volley ball court. Both will aid the youngsters in teaching and recreational activities.
