Dempo Sports Club eased past Sesa FA by a Three Goal margin in their opening fixture of the SELVEL Goa Professional League. Goals by Beevan Demello, Gaurav Vaigankar, and a brace by Uttam Rai made sure that the Eagles earned a comfortable first win.

With the Eagles beginning the match as favorites, they came out the blocks, much the better team compared to their opposition, dominant in the initial Forty-Five, the boys opened the goal scoring in the first half when Bevan D’Mello pounced on a Sesa FA defensive lapse to give the Eagles an early lead. The Eagles would go on to have many chances to increase the lead as the first half progressed, former SESA FA winger, Richard Cardoz playing as if he needed to prove a point against his past employers, dominating the left-wing as he bombed up and down the park.

The boys had the opportunity and took the chance to extend their lead minutes before the break, Uttam Rai was put in by the impressive Richard Cardoz, who riffled a right volley into the net after some excellent movement to lose his marker.

In the second half, Dempo looked to manage the game with their two-goal advantage but were soon put under pressure, a mistake in the back saw SESA FA earn a tap in the opening five minutes of the second half.As Dempo began to settle down after the initial scare, more chances began to open for the home team. with SESA FA searching for the equaliser, Samir Naik looked to use substitutes Suraj Handodkar’s pace to unlock the stubborn SESA defense.

Samir’s faith in the winger soon proved fruitful, Suraj’s quick feet found Richard Cardoz on the left-wing, but the winger, however, was unable to put the finishing touches to a well-worked Dempo attack. Much against the run of play, Dempo finally got their cushion when Shallom Pires’s freekick, found right back, Gaurav Vaigankar free on the second post, the debutant made no mistake with his finish and gave Dempo their third of the evening.

Dempo had their last of the evening, a few minutes from the restart, once again, a Samir Naik substitute making the difference, Ariston Costa who was brought in for the captain Bevan D’Mello, unselfishly found Uttam Rai at the edge of the box, the newly signed striker, made no mistake, as Dempo Sports Club sealed their fourth of the evening.
