An international striker of repute, Prakash Naik famously shot to fame at home after scoring the match winner against Vazaz Izo, a visiting team from Hungary, at Campal. This was the only defeat the all-conquering Hungarian side tasted during their India tour of 1979. Naik made his senior club debut with MPT in 1970 and switched over to Vasco two years later. His next destination was Sesa Goa, but when Dempo came calling, he could not say no. Naik befuddled defenders with his mazy dribbling and ability to change direction in a jiffy, most notably scoring the match winner against mighty Mohammedan Sporting in the final of Bordoloi Shield in 1982.
