Manohar Asnodkar

For whoever he played, starting with Benfica SC in Mapusa, Bicholim SC and finally Dempo- Souza Sports Club when it was launched in 1967, Manohar Asnodkar lived up to his reputation of getting the goals that mattered. An opportunist on the field in the truest sense of the word, Asnodkar served the club well during its early years. He and his brother Sadanand, who played in defence, were regulars in the line-up. Occasionally, Sadanand was pushed up front by the coaches and asked to link up with his brother to take the battle to the rival camp, which the duo accomplished in style.
