Dempo Sports Club closed the gap on Goa Professional League leaders Sporting Clube de Goa to three points after a 4-1 win over Guardian Angel Sports Club, at Dempo SC Academy ground in Ella, Old Goa on Sunday.

Dempo SC move on to 34 points from 18 matches having played a game more than the leaders Sporting Clube de Goa. Guardian Angel SC stay on 20 points from 18 matches.

Suraj Hadkonkar was the star of the evening as he scored a fine hat-trick while coming in as a substitute. The youngster has so far scored seven goals in the league as a substitute, including his four goals in the last two games.

Guardian Angel SC struck first as Aslon Oliveira put them ahead in the game with a half-hour strike. Dempo SC however managed to restore parity just before the breather through Suraj Hadkonkar. Changing ends, Suraj showed his class and scored his second goal in the 56th minute with his trademark freekick. The youngster soon completed his hat-trick at the hour mark and set up Joaquim Abranches in the 62nd minute as the full time score read 4-1.
