The Goa Football Association (GFA), following the directive of All India Football Federation (AIFF), is likely to suspend all its footballing activities in the state amid the coronavirus threat.

According to a press note issued by GFA on Monday, its president Churchill Alemao convened a meeting of the Emergency Committee to decide on the AIFF Circular wherein it is stated that all footballing activities under the aegis of the AIFF stay suspended till March 31, 2020.

“During the meeting the views of the Emergency Committee Members were sought and all decided that understanding the seriousness of the situation due to the threat of coronavirus and prioritising the importance of human health and life, all matches under the aegis of GFA be suspected from March 20, 2020 onwards till further notice,” states the press note.

“The GFA will take a stock of the situation in the coming weeks and take a decision abiding by the directives from the authorities,” it adds.

Meanwhile, it was informed that the ‘D’ Licence Course to be held at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, also has been called off.
