Dempo Sports Club walked past FC Goa 3-1 in the All India football Federation (AIFF) Sub junior League at Dempo SC Academy ground in Ella, Old Goa on Monday.

In a game clearly dominated by Dempo , the hosts could have added to their tally of goals but it did not appear necessary as their domination was total except for some spells in the second session of play.

Dempo began dictating terms from the beginning and started scoring in the 8th minute when Utkarsh Kudalkar saw Swavel Furtado in the FC Goa box and fed him through. Swavel controlled the ball and neatly placed it past a helpless FC Goa keeper Floyd Hilario.

Inspired by the goal, the bubbly Dempo lads almost consolidated their margin five minutes later when Dalwin Coelho sent in a measured pass from the left to onrushing Durgesh Soni whose half volley was neatly blocked by FC Goa keeper Floyd.

FC Goa looked perplexed and could not create any midfield play primarily because Prachit Gaonkar was played on the left flank in the first half and that created a void in the centre.

With the visitors unable to measure any threatening moves , Dempo SC kept dominating with Dalwin and Dargesh Soni having a field day on the left and centre leaving and Jairaj Patekar with many chances to dent the FC Goa defense.

FC Goa got its first chance in the first half when Prachit Gaonkar let go a shot from the centre of the Dempo SC half which Dempo keeper Mohammad collected effortlessly.

Dempo SC scored the third goal and took the fight off the FC Goa boys in the second minute of the added time of the first half when Jairaj crossed the ball to unmarked Dalwin Coelho who tapped the ball in. FC Goa played on a different tone in the second half with Prachit being moved to the centre. Prachit moved the ball from the right to the left and his sudden change in the pace of the game caught the otherwise alert Dempo defenders on the wrong foot.

FC Goa reduced the margin in the 56th minute through defender Deepak Naik who was fed through by substitute Kifern Dias.

FC Goa coach Shane Temudo tried to increase the tempo of their threats by making three substitutions but it did not really affect the Dempo style of play as the winners created their own chances.
