Bhim Bahadur Thapa

Forward (1968-1977)

Bhim Bahadur Thapa was the catalyst for the success that Dempo enjoyed in the early years after he joined the Goan side from 3MTR, based in Navelim. He first caught the eye in the Rajan Memorial football tournament in Margao with his darting runs on the right wing. At a time when not many outstation players chose to ply their trade in Goa, Thapa was an exception and chose to join Dempo with whom he eventually ended his career. He almost always stood out on the field, not just for his good looks – he was quite easily the fairest player on the pitch– but also for his ability to leave his markers gasping for breath with his speed.
